Deriving near-real time fire information using data from the geostationary satellite Himawari-8

Himawari-8 is a geostationary satellite to be launched in 2014 that will cover the Australian continent. It has channels captured at 10min intervals that are suitable for fire monitoring. This project will develop remote sensing methodologies for near-real time monitoring of fires at 10min intervals.
